Joe Russo took part in an Instagram Q&A to promote his new restaurant’s bar, Duello, but was game to talk about Marvel and Avengers 4 in particular.

Russo, one-half of the Russo Brothers directing duo, was asked about the upcoming film’s runtime and he confessed that the current cut of the film is at three hours.

“The running time on Avengers 4, it’s currently sitting right at three hours. So, we’ll see if that holds, but you know, we’re sitting right at three hours right now.”

His uncertainty about the runtime is understandable since he later revealed that the film is right smack dab in the middle of post-production.

“We’re about halfway through the editing process. So we’re really just scratching the surface on all of our VFX shots. There are more than 3,000 VFX shots in the movie. Those require a lot of time and thought and energy and effort. I think we’re very early in that phase of getting the effects done. We just started work with Alan Silvestri on the score and we’re still editing picture at this point.”

However, at the close of the livestream Russo was less than forthcoming when it came to other details.

Falling in line with Marvel’s hush-hush policy on its marketing, he said that fans “may or may not” see a trailer before the year is through. When asked the title of Avengers 4, Russo conveniently ran into technical difficulties when the livestream abruptly was cut off not once, but twice.

Well played, sir.
