This past weekend we got our first look at the new animated series Star Wars Resistance. Taking place before The Force Awakens, the show reintroduces us to the Resistance and their fight against the First Order. It might have just been the first three episodes, but it gave us a lot of Easter eggs and references for the die-hard Star Wars fans to find.

Here is my top 10 list of Easter eggs and references from Star Wars Resistance.

1. The Opening

All the Star Wars movies start with that shot in space where the camera pans away as a ship enters the screen. Well Resistance gave us that same beginning. You think the planet is going to be passed by a ship, but instead it turns out to be a droid.

2. Starkiller Base

That’s right, Starkiller Base makes its appearance in the Resistance. The First Order’s planet sized base and weapon is shown as the red Tie Interceptor returns from its battle with Poe and Kaz. This is also where we hear Captain Phasma’s name for the first time.

3. Poe Dameron, BB-8, Leia, and C-3PO

Poe Dameron makes his appearance along with BB-8 and helps Kaz after his X-Wing becomes disabled after it was shot by the Red Tie Interceptor. Dameron then takes Kaz aboard a Corellian Corvette where we hear Anthony Daniels voice as C-3PO and see the Hologram of General Leia Organa.

4. Mandalorian Helmet

While in Aunts Z’s Tavern we get a quick glance of a Mandalorian helmet on a shelf behind the bar. This is a cool find because of the new live-action series The Mandalorian coming soon to Disney’s new streaming service.

5. Tattoos

If you look really hard you will notice that some of the characters have tattoos. When looking at them closely Star Wars fans will notice some familiar symbols. From the original trilogy we see a Rancor and a Space Slug. The Black Sun crime syndicate symbol from The Clone Wars and Rathtar from the The Force Awakens.

6. The New Republic Crest

Here the New Republic Crest makes it first appearance on screen. We first saw this crest in the Aftermath novels.

7. Yeager The Resistance Pilot

Kaz finds out that Yeager was a pilot for the Rebellion. Also, Kaz finds a picture in Yeager’s private quarters that shows him at the Battle of Jakku with a Star Destroyer crashed in the sands of Jakku in the background. Could this be the same Star Destroyer in The Force Awakens?

8. The Races

Kaz ends up getting involved in the races while working at the Colossus. Just like in The Phantom Menace Kaz starts his race just as Anakin Skywalker did with his ship stalling out. To bad Kaz didn’t have the luck young Skywalker did at the end of the race. But that wasn’t the only familiar part from that movie. The race announcer is voiced by Greg Proops. Proops was one of the voices of the two headed announcer for the pod races.

9. The Ships

We also get to see a few familiar ships in Star Wars Resistance. We see a Corellian Corvette. This is the same type of ship that Leia was on in A New Hope. We also get a TIE Interceptor that we first seen in Return of the Jedi. And of course, we get another version of the X-Wing.

10. The Aliens

The Resistance gives us some of the alien characters that fans are familiar with through-out the Star Wars storyline. Aunt Z is the same species as Unkar Plutt the junk boss from Jakku. We see a Bith that may have been from the original Cantina Band. Also seen was a Snivvian species that we remember from the character Snaggletooth. Gotal, Arcona, and Sullustan species also make an appearance in the series.

I’m sure there are many more Easter eggs and references in Star Wars Resistance. So let us know what you think about this top 10. Also let us know if I missed some by leaving your comments or hitting me up on Twitter @starwarsnerd574.
