AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD Wants To Bring Back This Character In Season 10

No, we’re not reposting the same article from yesterday. This time we’re talking about Lauren Cohan. Newly appointed showrunner Angela Kang wants to bring back Cohan in season 10 in order to close up her storyline in a satisfying way. However is it, “too little, too late”? The character was starting to find her way again both personally, and for Image result for lauren cohanaudiences after the brutal murder of her husband back in Season 7. Arguably, the character has served as the “strong, female character”, a character that is portrayed as strong but not integral to the plot and is just a girl with weapons or muscles. Don’t get me started on that time Maggie spent half a season obsessing over a missing Glenn while her sister was ALSO MISSING!

The same lame trope can also be applied to Michonne who has only been brought to the forefront, because she’s Rick’s romantic interest. Where’s the Michonne backstory I’ve been yearning for? Did this happen last season when I dropped off as a viewer?

Going back to the point, Cohan has confirmed that Maggie won’t exit by way of being six feet under so the door is open for her to come back. However, that all seems to hinge on the fate of her new show on ABC, Whiskey CavalierWhile it’s nice that the actor has a fallback should her show be cancelled, it kind of reads like that’s what Angela Kang wants to happen;

“I’ll say first of all that we’ve still planned some more story with Maggie, Lauren wants to, it will be a little subject to her schedule but hopefully we have her back next season,. We have always planned to have this great story with Maggie this season and I think we promised something. We wanted to pay off that promise. We definitely have a very strong Maggie arc.”

It’s a weird statement for sure, and we shouldn’t read into it as much. Assuming that Whiskey Cavalier films in Los Angeles, and The Walking Dead films in Georgia, pretty much around the same time I’m not sure how they will pull it off.

PS: Anyone else find it a little unsettling that every character in my thumbnail photo is dead? I guess the more accurate word when you factor in Rick would be “gone”.

The Walking Dead Returns on October 7th while Whiskey Cavalier Premieres in 2019.
