Titans will be coming later this year to the DC Univers streaming service, but a spin-off is already in the works, in the form of the Doom Patrol. The iconic DC group will make their live-action debut as recurring guests on Titans before they headline their own show that will premiere sometime next year. Featuring The Chief, Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man, Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), and Cyborg (Joivan Wade), the series will take place after the events of Titans Season 1.
Greg Berlanti and Geoff Johns are executive producing the series, along with Supernatural scribe Jeremy Carver who is writing and showrunning the spin-off. With Doom Patrol set to start rolling the cameras very soon, we at That Hashtag Show are proud to reveal that another DC character is being cast for the spin-off and he is heavily connected to one of our Doom Patrol members.
The show is currently casting the role of Silas Stone, who is the father of Victor Stone a.k.a. Cyborg. The breakdown reveals that they are looking for an African-American male in his late 50s who would be a recurring guest star in the first season. Silas is described as an incredibly intelligent scientist, with a straight-shooter attitude, who doesn’t care too much for small talk. He is only focused on his lab work, maybe a little too much, to the point that it has caused him to have a shaky relationship with his son Vic as Silas struggles in juggling being both a scientist and a father at the same time.
This would mark as the second live-action version of Silas, as we saw Cyborg’s father portrayed by Joe Morton in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Justice League movie from last year. With the introduction of Silas, this might mean that we will see the inclusion of S.T.A.R. Labs in the Titans universe, as Silas is heavily connected to that. Given the big relationship between Vic and Silas, it doesn’t surprise us one bit that the series is casting Cyborg’s complex father, to focus more on Cyborg’s personal life.
