Dave Bautista who plays Drax The Destroyer in Guardians Of The Galaxy and it’s sequel along with Avengers: Infinity War and the upcoming Avengers 4, has recently stated that he is not worried about Disney firing him in regards to him speaking out about the firing of James Gunn.

James Gunn who was the writer and director of both Guardians Of The Galaxy films was recently fired from the position of director for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 due to the reappearance of some old, offensive tweets he sent out many years ago.

This led to a lot of people supporting James Gunn in his situation, deeming it unfair that James was fired. Nobody more so than Dave Bautista who has been very vocal with his support for James Gunn. This makes sense given that James Gunn is the one who gave him a career in Hollywood and you can see Dave Bautista is extremely appreciative of that and therefore loyal to Gunn.

Dave Bautista has said some rather scathing things about Disney and their methods recently but Bautista is not worried about if he gets fired too:

“I’m aware that this could possibly cost me a job I care for very much, but at the same time it’s an integrity issue, it’s a loyalty issue,” he said, referring to Gunn. “So I’m not going to bite my tongue for anything, that’s just who I am as a person. I’ve tried to actually be very choosy about what I say and the way I say it. I don’t necessarily mean to be disrespectful but at the same time, I have to say what is on my mind and in my heart. I’ve just been honest.

Bautista goes on to discuss how the role of Drax means a lot to him however if he was fired by Disney, he would not be too disheartened:

“It is what it is if it costs me a job that’s just what happens. I always think as it like you can’t threaten a poor man with poverty. I grew up poor, I know what is like. I’m not afraid of losing money, It means nothing to me. I will wrestle in backyards in front of 10 people if I have to make a living. I’m not going to be flexible with my integrity.”

If Disney has the intention to let Dave Bautista go, they do have options with Drax. They could kill his character off in the upcoming Avengers 4, be it a noble death in the film, or he didn’t survive the snap post Infinity War. However they could also recast Drax which they have been known to do in the past with characters such as The Hulk and War Machine.

However we should not jump to conclusions as we have no solid evidence on what Disney’s intentions are with Dave Bautista and the future of Drax in the MCU. Until we do, we just have to assume that Dave Bautista will continue in the role of Drax for the foreseeable future.

Avengers 4 will release on May 3rd 2019.
