Now this is an unexpected casting choice. Luis Guzmán is on board to play Gomez Addams in Tim Burton‘s upcoming Wednesday series for Netflix. The show, which is based on the classic series The Addams Family is currently in pre-production. Collider had the exclusive details on the casting. Wednesday follows the Addams daughter as she goes through her developmental years as a student at Nevermore Academy. She has to navigate school life, her home life, and solve mysteries that are 25 years in the making.
Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday alongside Guzmán as her father Gomez. Tim Burton makes his TV directing debut with the eight episode series. As for the rest of the cast, we’re in the dark on who’ll play Morticia, Puggsly, Cousin It, or Uncle Fester. The show has no release date, but with casting going on, they should start production sometime soon.
Luis Guzmán might not have been the top fan choice for the role, but he’s got the chops to play Gomez. He’s been in dramatic and comedic roles throughout his career. So, do you think Luis Guzmán was the right choice? Or did you want someone like Johnny Depp to play Gomez Addams?

I have all kinds of concerns about this being good, not the least of which was casting. However, Louie Guzman is a wonderful choice, and Incredibly unexpected. I was really just hoping for anyone other than Johnny Depp but my top two choices were Oscar Isaac’s or Jason Mantzoukas. I’m totally happy with Louis though.
