Disney has already enjoyed massive success with “live-action” remakes of its animated classics. Thus far we’ve seen Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book and The Lion King amaze film-goers the world over. While Mulan is next up for theaters, fans will get to see of some live-action retelling of their favorite stories on the small screen, too. And where better to start from at D23 Expo 2019 than Lady and the Tramp?
Who can forget the timeless seen in Lady and the Tramp when the two dogs share a slurp of spaghetti? While the trailer for the live-action film doesn’t show it outright, it hints that we’ll get to see that iconic scene once more in the new film. Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok) and Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) star in the title roles.

Lady and the Tramp will be one of thousands that will find its way into the Disney library available on Disney+. Disney+, of course, is Disney’s new streaming service set to debut November 12. Most of the focus for the service has been on the Star Wars and Marvel shows thus far. Notwithstanding, Disney is sure to stock the service full of family-friendly far.
Joining Thompson and Theroux in the cast are Ashley Jensen (Jock), Sam Elliot (Trusty), Benedict Wong (Bull), and Janelle Monáe (Peg). Lady and the Tramp will join the first-ever, live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian in launching Disney+ on November 12.
