One of the regular things the Marvel Cinematic Universe does is their mid and post-credits scenes. Very few movies before the MCU contained them and even fewer were the moviegoers who stuck around to watch them. Now fans expect them and very often they hint or lead directly into the next film. Spider-Man: Far From Home delivers with two shocking stingers.

The post-credits scene reveals that Nick Fury, pivotal to the events of Far From Home, was actually off-planet. It is also revealed that Maria Hill and Nick Fury were actually the shape-shifting Skrulls, Talos and his wife Soren. This makes a fan wonder how long have they been posing as Nick and Maria…but we’ll explore that in another article.
Where is Fury in the post-credits scene?
The post-credits scene start with Talos calling Fury and reporting the events of what took place during the film. At first Fury appears to be relaxing on a beach, but as he shuts off his phone and stands up, the beach is revealed to be a hologram. We then see he is aboard a massive space station. As the camera pans out we see spaceships flying in the background, and Skrulls and other crew members walking around the floating fortress. Most of the crew appear to be wearing uniforms. Fans are theorizing that this is S.W.O.R.D., which in the comics is a S.H.I.E.L.D. counterpart devoted to cosmic threats.
Could the space station in the post-credits be the Peak, which was the orbital headquarters of the Sentient World Observation and Response Department (S.W.O.R.D.)? The organization was first introduced in Marvel’s Astonishing X-Men vol. 3 no. 6, to deal with extraterrestrial threats to world security. Given its X-Men origin and reports that the MCU will be focusing more on the cosmic in Phase 4, this all seems to make sense.
