[Warning: Spoilers for Avengers: Endgame.] Fans have been trying to work out timelines in Avengers: Endgame, especially after Steve went back in time. There he was able to reunite, and live out his life, with Peggy Carter. But according to the film’s screenwriters, that was always the case.
Ever since we learned that Peggy Carter married and had two children in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, audiences assumed her romance with Captain America was consigned to his past. But in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely revealed that the opposite was true.
“It was always our intention that he was the father of those two children,” McFeely said, backing up fan theories that have emerged since Avengers: Endgame premiered. “But again, there are time travel loopholes for that.”
Captain America: Time Traveler
That the movie itself explained any changes made in the past resulted in an alternate timeline rather than affecting the present one. Therefore, the only options are that Steve created a new reality or that his return to the past changed nothing. If the latter is true, where does the Sousa romance from the Agent Carter series fit in? And how did Peggy keep her husband hidden from her niece, who later kissed him?
Seeing as Markus and McFeely only wrote the pilot of that show, it may not be part of their larger view of Captain America’s timeline. And perhaps they forget about Sharon Carter, like most MCU viewers did. But something else might be. As Markus suggested, “It does introduce the idea that there are two children who have somewhat super soldier DNA.”

Oh, these two just have to stop. They keep digging a hole every time they open their mouths.
The movie is full of plot holes and out-of-character moments. And that’s without even talking about the time travel stuff.
I prefer the Russo brothers’ version. It’s not the same timeline. It’s another timeline where Steve, presumably, also stopped Hydra’s infiltration of Shield, saved Bucky, and Tony’s parents are alive.
The contradictions happening lately regarding the backstage of the MCU has led me to believe they’re making it up as they go and didn’t have “every thing perfectly planned” like Feige often says.
I hope these two never write a Marvel movie, or any movie for any studio. It sounds harsh, but there are plenty of scriptwriters out there that deserve the chance these two got and wasted.
It’s kinda sad that Endgame is a mid-tier MCU movie, when it should have been one of the best.
lol sorry for the rant
