Well it looks like Lucasfilm has finally listened to the Star Wars fans and is bringing us a new project. That’s right: Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that a Knights of the Old Republic project is in development.
Knights of the Old Republic a go
While speaking with MTV News, Kathleen Kennedy was asked if there was a Knights of the Old Republic project in the works. Kennedy did confirm that yes, it was officially on the table, but did not release any further details. While we may not know a lot about this at the present time, we do know that Game of Thrones creators DB Weiss and David Benioff have been given the green light for the next Star Wars saga. It’s also rumored that they will be working with Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson on their project. Johnson, still saddled with the disapproval of some Star Wars fans, is also still working on a trilogy of his own.
Looking for Female Directors
This was not all the news that Kennedy gave us as well. So, in addition of the Knights of the Old Republic, she also said that they are looking for female directors to take the lead once the future of the Star Wars franchise is figured out. This is after Lucasfilm has been criticized for their lack of diversity with its directors. You can see the interview with MTV News below.
What Are Your Thoughts?
So, are you excited about the Knights of the Old Republic? What are your thoughts about Rian Johnson being put of the project? Star Wars fans will have a lot to look forward to in the next few years. With this announcement and with Celebration giving us a look and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Clone Wars, and The Mandalorian these next few years should be pretty exciting.
