Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming back by popular demand, literally. The show will return with season 7 on Disney+ later this year. The combination of exceptional writing and brilliant acting enamored the show to fans so much that Dave Filoni just couldn’t let it end with the truncated Season 6. We can thank Filoni, and talented actors such as Matt Lanter, Ashley Eckstein, James Arnold Taylor, and Sam Witwer, among others, for some of the best storytelling in Star Wars.
We’re sure to get more information on the show’s return at Star Wars Celebration next month. Before we do, however, let’s take a look at some of the most memorable episodes of prior seasons of The Clone Wars.
5. The Clone Wars: “The Box” (Season 4)
Cade Bane was one of my favorite characters of The Clone Wars, and “The Box” was one of my favorite episodes. Obi-Wan Kenobi goes undercover to participate in a bounty hunters’ version of The Hunger Games. County Dooku arranged the contest to weed out the weak and assemble a team of the best bounty hunters. The prize? Participation in, and handsome pay for the kidnapping of Chancellor Palpatine. Of course Cade Bane and Obi-Wan (in disguise) come out on top. The contest is a grueling test of both physical and mental skill, and highlights Bane’s cunning ability.
4. “Sacrifice” (Season 6)
The final episode of The Clone Wars Season 6 sees Yoda travel to the Sith home world to complete the Jedi Master’s training in the Force. There he faces his worst fear, and hardest lessons. The episode would bring Yoda face to face with the Sith ghost of Darth Bane, nefarious creator of the Sith Rule of Two. Deeply dark and dramatic, Yoda’s “Sacrifice” plants doubt and sorrow in Yoda’s mind, paving the way for Anakin’s fall in Revenge of the Sith. This is easily one of the most poignant episodes of the series.
