Very little details are known about what fans can expect from Star Wars: Episode IX, but Billie Lourd has called her brief time on the set of the new film “magical.” Billie Lourd is, of course, the daughter of the late Carrie Fisher.
The young actress recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her experiences on the set of the final film of the Skywalker saga. She had this to say about filming Episode IX:
“I gotta watch myself because the Star Wars PD is going to come get me, but it is incredible. I’ve read the script and I’ve been on set. I was on set for, like, three weeks back in September, and it is going to be magical. I can’t say much more, but I’m so excited about it and so grateful to be a part of it.”
Billie Lourd to Have Larger Role in Episode IX
When Lucasfilm released The Force Awakens back in 2015, Billie Lourd had the opportunity to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Portraying Resistance Lieutenant Connix, Lourd has now appeared in both of the sequel trilogy films to date. Thus far, her role has been minimal. If she was on set for three weeks, however…. It’s sounding like Lourd’s role in the film is going to be a little bit more of a major role then it was in either The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi.
Director JJ Abrams has already noted that filming Episode IX is “bittersweet” for him. It must be equally if not more so for Billie Lourd to be filming without her mother.
We still don’t know the story for Episode IX. Speculation for what the story could hold is still going to happen until the first trailer drops, and we get the description of the film. One thing we do know: Star Wars is a part of Billie Lourd:
“Star Wars is my heart. I love it.”
Star Wars: Episode IX opens December 20, 2019.
