Lost in Space Season 2 New Character Update:

Lost in Space Season 1 introduced a new generation to the adventures of the Robinson Family aboard the Jupiter 2. While the original series focused primarily on the Robinson family, Don West, and Doctor Smith, this new series introduced us to an entire colony leaving a dying Earth to settle on a new planet. Though it took a much different and modern approach to the story, by the Season Finale, it appeared that the Robinsons, West, and Smith, were finally on their own, lost in space, but that might not be the case, keep reading to find out what we’ve learned about Lost in Space Season 2.

With Season 2 gearing up to start production sometime soon, new information is starting to get out and we’ve uncovered two Character Breakdowns that confirm we haven’t seen the last of the colony from the Resolute. This isn’t really surprising though since so many characters were introduced in the first season, it doesn’t make sense that they wouldn’t follow up with any of the non-Jupiter 2 characters that we were just starting to get to know in Season 1. So, let’s get into where these new characters fit in.

Studios will often use codenames for Characters being cast in high profile shows or movies, however, we think in this instance, it’s safe to assume the names we have are the real names of the characters. The first of the new additions is Ava. She’s somewhere between her late 20’s and 40 years old and the supervisor of the mechanics. She’s firm, hardworking, and serious. She shuts down Don’s nonsense but respects his skill. Recurring. This breakdown tells us one of 2 things, either we’ll be getting more backstory with Don in the form of Flashbacks where he interacts with Eva or The Jupiter 2 will not be spending the entire season separated from the Resolute.

Our next Breakdown is for Commander Jiang.  She’s the Captain of the Resolute. Even though Victor is the leader of the colony, her command of the ship and crew is quite apparent. Described as capable, stalwart, and unsentimental, no age range was given for her. She will also be a recurring character. While like Ava, she could either appear in flashbacks or in the present day of the show, we predict that with all the characters we were introduced to last season, it is more than likely that we’ll be cutting back and forth between the Robinsons who appear to now be in range of wherever it is that Robot came from and the Resolute and the rest of the colony.

I really enjoyed the first season of the show, even though I don’t believe that every reboot needs to be grittier and more grounded in reality (at least as much as sci-fi series can be), I think it worked for Lost in Space and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for Season 2 and to be honest, I’ll be perfectly happy if we don’t see a giant carrot monster.

Lost in Space Season 2 does not yet have a release date, but it’s safe to assume it will drop on Netflix mid to late 2019 or early 2020. What did you guys think about Season 1?
