Tim Burton finally gets his wish to direct an Addams Family project. Wednesday is coming to the small streaming screen from Netflix this Fall 2022. The new trailer gives us our first look at Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams.

Wednesday also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams, and Issac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams. Christina Ricci, who starred as Wednesday in the ’90s Addams Family movies is also part of the series in an unknown role.

The trailer looks like some classic Tim Burton styling and the cast is absolutely excellent in their roles. Jenna Ortega absolutely embodies Wednesday. A normal school like Nancy Reagan High School isn’t a good place for her, so after she gets expelled for putting piranhas in the swimming pool, she goes off to Nevermore Academy.

Netflix describes the show like this:

A sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.

Tim Burton directed Wednesday from a script from Showrunners/Writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

We’ll have to see just how deep the series goes when it comes out later this Fall.
