The already announced Disney+ series, Hawkeye, will feature the comic book character Kate Bishop. If the series follows the comics, then we will see a young Kate take on the moniker of Hawkeye. Disney actor Artemis has been taking to Twitter to let fans and Disney Execs know she wants the role…and we couldn’t agree more!

Rumor has it that Marvel Studios wants to cast an unknown in the Kate Bishop role. Artemis will be appearing in the upcoming movie Stargirl (no, not the DC Universe series) and appeared in Clint Eastwood’s The Mule and in HBO’s series Vice Principals, she is still a relative unknown in Hollywood. In addition to be an actor and model, Artemis is a black belt in Aikido, a gymnast and has been an avid archer for 10 years. Plus, look at her side by side picture with a Kate Bishop drawing.

This is what Artemis had to say in a recent interview with NEWSaRAMA:

“When it was announced at Comic-Con that Kate Bishop is going to be in the live-action Hawkeye show on Disney+, I took to social media to express that playing Kate Bishop would be a dream come true and that I would do everything in my power to bring justice to this character.”

Who is this Kate Bishop?

In the comics, Kate Bishop grew up in Manhattan as the youngest daughter of a rich family. Her father was a publishing magnate and her mother died when Kate was still young. Villain El Matador held Kate for ransom, until The Avengers rescued her. Kate turned Hawkeye into her role model after that event because he was a regular human with no powers and only skill. After being sexually assaulted while walking in Central Park she was motivated her to learn several forms of combat fighting, self-defense, swordplay and archery.

Kate Bishop featured in Marvel’s Hawkeye comic book.

Kate Bishop has had several different story arcs within the comic books. She has quite regularly been a part of the Young Avengers alongside Cassie Lang, Ant-Man’s daughter. Moving into Phase 4 and 5 of the MCU, the original Avengers lineup will be changing. Fan theories have been circulating for quite some time that Marvel Studios is eyeing the Young Avengers for the MCU and casting a young Hawkeye seems to support those rumors.
