Venom; Venom 2

You might have noticed that Venom 2, now has an official title. So we get a little good news with our bad. Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage is getting pushed back, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally slated for October of this year, it’ll now be moved to June 25th, 2021. It’s looking increasingly likely that we will be without major releases over the summer.

That could be a sign of doom for some. For me, it’s a blessing. We now get a barrage of entertainment in the later stages of 2020 and into 2021. Let’s just get a mulligan on 2020. There are shots of Woody Harrelson on set, but we have yet to see the red variant on the Venom symbiote.

The first Venom was a join production between Sony and Marvel. It was included in their agreement for Spider-Man to show up in the MCU. Thankfully, the second film is also another joint production. Who knows, we could have Tom Holland show up in a cameo in this second film. That first film was a massive success. So, after some relatively tepid reactions to the first trailer, it looked like it would be a failure. Upon release, it was a fairly well regarded comic book film.

As for the new title, it fits what could be a more silly and comic book-like tone for the second film. Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage sounds a lot different tonally than what was set up in the first film. What do you think of the new title? Do you think that they should have made a sequel to Venom?
