If you sat down for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, you were treated to a bit of a tease for a G.I. Joe-Transformers crossover. Now, Hasbro is on their way to making that a reality. They’ve previously announced Chris Hemsworth as a star for the film, but now we know the writer as well. Derek Connolly is the writer for the film. He’s previously written movies like Detective Pikachu, Jurassic World, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The crossover movie brings together two of Hasbro’s biggest toy lines, Transformers and G.I. Joe. That also means that the Decepticons and Cobra will team up. For fans that were kids in the ’80s and ’90s, this is probably something that occurred in your living room or bedroom. This isn’t the first time the two properties have merged, there was a 1987 Marvel comic. But this would be the first time on-screen that the two are meeting.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ended with Anthony Ramos’s character getting a job offer to join the Joes.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto and Don Murphy are producing.  Steven Spielberg and Hasbro Entertainment will executive produce.

Chris Hemsworth can be seen in theaters in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga as the villain Dementus. As we said before, he’s voicing Optimus Prime in Transformers One, which releases in theaters on September 20th, 2024. Lately, he’s been pretty busy after taking a bit of a break due to finding a family history of dementia. He can also be seen in Extraction 2 on Netflix, which was one of the most popular films released on the platform last year.

As for any other details about the film, this is all we know for now.

We’ll keep you updated on this story as we get more news.
