Free Comic Book Day is coming up on Saturday, May 2nd. This year, over 100 comics are getting released, and we have a preview for one of those comics. Dark Horse Comics has a Gold Selection comics releasing. And it’s an exciting one. This year’s comic is Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins and Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology.

Dark Horse has released both descriptions for these stories, and they are pretty interesting:

In Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins, tales of Vox Machina have traveled far and wide… But which tales are just colorful flights of fancy, and which are actually true? Gather ’round as several of these tall tales are told, each more far-fetched than the last. Writer Jody Houser (Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins II, Stranger Things, Doctor Who), artist Hunter Bonyun, and colorist Stephan McGowan bring the Critical Role story to life.

Then get an introduction to the world of Neil Gaiman’s Norse Mythology, an upcoming comic series adapted by award-winning comics writer and artist P. Craig Russell (American Gods, Only the End of the World Again) with colors by Lovern Kindzierski (Shame, Necromantic) and letters by Galen Showman (The Graveyard Book, Murder Mysteries).

What Does Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins Look Like?

I love that this comic has all-new tall tales from Critical Role. It’s not known at the moment if these tall tales will connect into the comic’s story, but it seems like they could be directly connected to the overall comic story.

The cover has also been released, and it’s so awesome:

With this being an all-new original Critical Role story, fans already will be excited to read it. And with a preview of the new Neil Gaiman comic, this will be something fantasy fans will want to get.

This will be available at local comic book shops on May 2nd for Free Comic Book Day.
