A living legend and role model to many of today’s wrestlers. He made his first appearance in New Japan Pro-Wrestling as Liger in 1989, at the first ever wrestling event inside the Tokyo Dome. Displaying strength usually seen in heavyweight contenders, Liger holds the record for most IWGP Jr. Heavyweight titles won at 11. His iconic outfit and techniques have inspired many around the world, and impacted the way pro-wrestling has evolved to this day. His retirement will take place over two nights at the beginning of 2020. Where NJPW will have their annual WrestleKingdom event for the first time span two nights.
