After months of secrecy, Marvel Studios finally confirmed the Black Widow will be getting her solo movie. The film has been in production for a while now and from the teaser that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con there seems to be a lot of excitement surrounding the project.

Here’s what we know. The film is set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. One thing that’s been talked about throughout the Avengers film is the relationship between Hawkeye and the Black Widow. Most of their backstory is though dialogue. The two Avengers share a deep connection and heartfelt, platonic relationship. The Black Widow solo film would be a perfect way to integrate one of the OG Avengers.

Black Widow & Hawkeye

When Scarlett Johansson was asked about a Clint Barton appearance here’s what she had to say:

Oh my God, that’s when.you see the tranq gun come out. It’s going to take you out first, then I’m going out. My lips are sealed. We have a lot of surprises up out sleeve, up our gauntlet.

With Budapest being a running theme in Avengers films maybe we could get a flashback with both characters recalling Budapest very differently. It’s also been addressed that Hawkeye was sent by SHIELD to take about the Black Widow but made a different call. Including Hawkeye would also ring how Natasha’s death in Avengers: Endgame.

Exploring Natasha and Clint’s bond wouldn’t be the only reason to included the arrowed Avenger in the film. This could possibly set up Hawkeye’s Disney+ series which happens a little later on in Phase 4. If the threat of the Taskmaster is too tough it would be cool to see Hawkeye pop up to lend a helping hand.

If Hawkeye does appear in the Black Widow solo film hopefully Marvel can keep it a secret until the film debuts.
