8. Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi Wan

“These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Episode IV: A New Hope

Tattooine’s resident sage is full of great wisdom and funny one-liners in every film he appears in, but no line from this Jedi stands out as much as this one. There is not a Star Wars fan out there that hasn’t quoted this phrase at some inappropriate moment. I bet you even do the hand motion when you say it, too.

Obi-Wan Kenobi could have his own list of great Star Wars quotes that would far exceed a list of ten. Kenobi’s musings have given us decades of fodder for articles like this one, such as, “You’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”, “That’s no moon.”, and “Use the Force, Luke.”, and the one that shall live in infamy, “… and these blast points, too accurate for Sand people…. only Imperial Storm Troopers are so precise.” Seriously, Obi-Wan? Have you actually SEEN them hit anything with those E-11’s?

7. Padme Amidala

Padme Amidala

“No, I call it an aggressive negotiation.”

Padme Amidala, Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Whether you liked Natalie Portman’s portrayal of the brazen former Queen of Naboo or not, you have to admit she had some very iconic lines throughout the prequels. I like this quote because it sums up who her character is supposed to be; a no-nonsense decision-maker and risk-taker who was tender-hearted, but would still fight you if you messed with her people.

Other poignant lines she had that could easily make the list are, while still Queen of Naboo in Episode I: The Phantom Menace, “I was not elected to watch my people suffer and die while you discuss this invasion in a committee”. And perhaps the most impactful line of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, when she said, while looking out over the Senate’s failings as a governing body, “So this is how liberty dies… to thunderous applause.”
