Back in the mid 90’s Japan released what would be one of the greatest fads of the 90s and 2000s – The Tamagotchi. The Tamagotchi was the first of its kind. Kids could raise a digital pet from egg to adulthood, feeding it and caring for it. We are on the verge of the next evolutionary phase of this toy, but now it will be with Porgs.

Available with the Magic Leap One VR headsets, this new interactive experience lets you raise a porg with the help of a certain golden droid. You can raise a young Porg from infant to adult and even hatch Porg eggs.

As you can see from the video, the porg will interact and maneuver around the real world. The only catch is that you will be the only one who can see them unless you can hook up to a tv or computer.

Caring for your New Porg

It will be your job to feed them, care for them and even play with them with provided toys such as a Chewie doll, a ball or a laser pointer. (Just don’t let Chewie, you know, eat them.)

The little guys will look and move just like in the The Last Jedi thanks to cooperation with ILMxLAB’s. These look like loads of fun for adults and kids alike.

So how does one get this new VR headset and game? For now the Magic Leap One Headset is only available to the United States, and even then only in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle. The Porg Project is not yet attached to the headsets, so you will have to keep a sharp eye out for them. How much will it set you back? Only a mere $2300 or up to $4,000 on Ebay if you can find one there.
