Though he may not be reprising his role as Wilson Fisk anytime soon, Netflix subscribers will still be able to enjoy the work of Vincent D’Onofrio. The veteran actor as joined the cast of Ratched as a recurring guest star.
Ratched will serve as a prequel to One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, telling the story of how the infamous Nurse Ratched evolved from “a nurse to a full-fledged monster.” Sarah Paulson will play Mildred Ratched and D’Onofrio will play Governor George Wilburn, a “brash misogynist with swagger.” Sharon Stone, Corey Stoll, Hunter Parrish and a half dozen other actors were previously announced as part of the project, which is being produced and directed by Ryan Murphy (Glee, Scream Queens and American Horror Story).
Don Cheadle, Alexandra Englert and Annie Starke have also joined the series in what appear to be minor recurring roles. Netflix has reportedly committed to 18 hour-long episodes over 2 seasons and have signed Murphy to an impressive exclusivity deal that will keep him steadily pushing out content for the streaming service. Ratched is filming now in Los Angeles and no release date has been set at this time.
I’m certain that the lighting effects will be excellent with Jon Salzman working on the project under the direction of Ryan Murphy.
