2. Luke Skywalker
Luke Skywalker lost his aunt and uncle to the Empire. Then he rushed off to face Vader unprepared, only to learn that his enemy was his own father. He lost his mentor in Obi-Wan, watched his friends suffer, and ultimately succumbed to his own failures. Like Obi-Wan before him, he lost his apprentice to the Dark Side. It was that apprentice, his own nephew, that would betray the Light and murder Luke’s best friend Han Solo. From self-imposed exile, he witnessed the full force of his failure in Kylo Ren’s rage. And he paid for it with his life. There are few, more tragic Star Wars characters than Luke.
