Power Rangers Beast Morphers is set to premiere February 2019, but it’s unknown if the show will be a success following the disappointment of Super Ninja Steel. Chip Lynn is coming backing as the Executive Producer, and we know that Becca Barnes is returning to write the episodes. It’s also currently unknown what the show’s story is going to be about. We only have the initial show description that came out when the season was announced:

“Set in the future, a secret agency combines a newly discovered substance called “Morph-X” with animal DNA to create the Power Rangers Beast Morphers team. The Rangers must fight off an evil sentient computer virus bent on taking over the source of all Ranger power, the Morphin Grid itself. Featuring never-before-seen leather suits and an all-new beast-themed arsenal (including dynamic new Zords), fans should get ready for a season full of secret ops and morphinominal fun.”

The description only tells us that the season will be a spy season, and that the Rangers will be part of the spy organization in the series. We know Evox will be the main villain, and that Blaze and Roxy will be the human villains of the season. But there are some things that Hasbro needs to get right for next season.

The Main Rangers

What we have learned from the past 4 seasons is this: you can’t use the same story for 2 different Red Rangers. Hasbro needs to break away from using the Red Ranger finding his missing father storyline. We’ve seen it executed enough times that we don’t need it again. The Rangers also need to get character development, and not just have one episode centered on them, and not get any development after that.

The Villians

As I mentioned, Evox is the main villain for next season. We also have Blaze and Roxy as the only human villains for the season. From what we’ve seen in the past seasons, we’ve only had one human villain: Heckyl. He was the human villain for Dino Super Charge, and that was the last time we have seen a human villain. This season needs to have the human villains have a story that fans can connect to, and to also show that the villains can be human and still wreak havoc on the Rangers.

The Zords

So, we know from one set of toy listings that were leaked, the Beast X Megazord looks to be the main zord, meanwhile, the Beast Racer Zord could be one of the secondary zords. We don’t know what the final look of the Megazord will look like until either the first trailer releases, or we get official photos showing the Zord.

The Beast Bots

The Beast Bots were revealed earlier this summer, and they look pretty cool.

We know that Cruise is the Beast Bot for the Red Ranger, and is a Cheetah. The Blue Ranger has a Gorilla and his name is Smash. And the Yellow Ranger has a jackrabbit for her Beast Bot, and it’s name is Jax. These need to be used in a creative way, and not just as a sidekick and robots.

The Secondary Rangers

Abraham Rodriguez’s character Nate is going to be the Gold Ranger next season. We know the Silver Ranger is going to be a robot, so we aren’t sure what that character is going to be like. These 2 secondary Rangers will be added into the season, but with only 22 episodes for next season, they could get introduced as early as the 8th episode.

No More SUPER SEASONS/5 Month Hiatuses/Clip Show Holiday Specials

I already know that this will happen, but the hiatuses have been like this for the past few years. We know that after last year, viewership for Ninja Steel dropped by 75%, and yet Saban did nothing to remedy the situation. We also have dealt with the super seasons for the past 7 years, and because the show is airing again on Nickelodeon, we probably won’t be able to escape the dreaded Super Season. The holiday specials need to be fewer clips, and more story building. A lot of the past Sentai seasons have done the holiday specials well because they don’t use clips, and have an actual story in the episode. The new season’s specials could rewrite themselves, but they need to be written well, and have the feel of an actual holiday special and not a clip show.

Power Rangers Beast Morphers has the chance to redo a lot of things that the previous seasons have done wrong, but the number one thing that needs to be fixed is the writing. As long as the writing is fixed, the season will succeed. But, if they can’t fix the writing, then the season will not end up being the season fans want to see.
