EXCLUSIVE: HBO Looking At Matthew Rhys To Become ‘PERRY MASON’

HBO’s Robert Downey Jr. produced Perry Mason reboot may have found their man. The network is looking to reboot the series, which originally ran from 1957-1966 and was the first weekly television series, and are hoping to land actor Matthew Rhys in the lead role.

Rhys gained notoriety for his role as Phillip Jennings on FX’s The Americans where he starred alongside his longtime girlfried Keri Russell. The show ran for 75 episodes over 6 seasons during which Rhys won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Should Rhys join the show, he’d take on the lead role of Mason, a defense attorney with a penchant for helping the wrongly accused clear their names and finding the real criminal.
