Stephen Broussard is a longtime producer of Marvel Studio films. He was co-producer on Captain America: The First Avenger, an executive producer on Iron Man 3, and the producer on Ant-Man and the Wasp. He recently talked about his hopes for Captain America post Avengers 4.
When asked how he would like Captain America to leave in Avengers 4, Broussard said, “It’s hard for me to say. Because I’m aware of things that have yet to happen. I love– I’ve made a lot of films here and I’ve dealt with a lot of characters. I love Cap, like personally, Cap is awesome.”
“And I love that we sort of stuck with the– there was a lot of decisions when we were making that first movie like, ‘How do you play with the character? Is he going to be corny in today’s day and age? Is it going to feel dated? Like too little square jawed?’”
“And I like that we stuck to those original guns about what that character should be and continues to be. Cap was always about like a moral certainty that I think we all wished we had, I think. But never aggrandizing or never obnoxious. I really like that. A lot of our characters are aspirational, I think Cap is really aspirational to me personally. So, I would hope that that continues, whatever Cap does.”
Avengers 4 is the hotly anticipated sequel to this summer’s Avengers:Infinity War. The world’s mightiest heroes have failed. Now they must come back together to finally defeat Thanos and undo the devastation he caused. Who will survive this inter-galactic showdown? Avengers 4 will hit U.S. theaters May 3, 2019.
