Widely recognized as one of Tim Burton’s best and most original films, Beetlejuice is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and Warner Brothers is making the most of it. For a limited time, you can relive the spooky, zany fun on the big screen with showings across North America, the U.K., France, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Australia, and Latin America.

Since its debut in 1988, Beetlejuice has retained its prominence in pop culture, inspiring plenty of costumes and make-up lines, as well as giving a big boost to the careers of actors like Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, and Catherine O’Hara. As his second feature-length film, the film also helped define Tim Burton’s directorial style and cement his status as one of Hollywood’s biggest and freshest names.
And who can forget the iconic score by Danny Elfman, who first worked with Burton on Pee-wee’s Big Adventure? The two went on to partner up on almost every subsequent Burton film, helping to shape the horror genre for an entire generation. The two will be partnering up again for Disney’s Dumbo, set for release next year.
Although Burton has had many successful and critically acclaimed films over the last 30 years, many see the 80’s and 90’s as his best and most original work, and Beetlejuice is certainly a big part of that.
Although there have been rumors in the past of a possible sequel (Writer Grahame-Smith and Actress Winona Ryder both confirmed this in 2015), it doesn’t look to be a sure thing, as Burton stated in 2016 that there was nothing concrete yet.
As with the sequel to any cherished film, it’s always tough to recapture the magic the second time around, so it may be a good thing Burton is only looking to move forward under the right circumstances.
Will you be seeing Beetlejuice on the big screen again?
