11 Boom Studios POWER RANGERS Comics We Want To See

One of the best things to happen to Power Rangers was the partnership with Boom Studios. Not only did it make the franchise relevant again but it might possibly be one of the best comic book series currently running. Kyle Higgins has taken the Power Rangers and made it feel fresh again. I remember watching the Green With Evil Saga on MMPR and just hanging on every episode and Higgins has recreated that with the recent comic event, Shattered Grid.

[SHATTERED GRID SPOILER ALERT]

Shattered Grid has taken the Power Rangers and flipped everything upside down. It all starts with Lord Drakkon, an evil alternate dimension version of Tommy that decided to go evil after the Green With Evil Saga and join Rita. Drakkon has since killed Rita, other alternate versions of Tommy and wrecking havoc along the way all the while collecting Power Morphers, making him seemingly unstoppable.

This has forced every Rangers across the Morphin’ Grid to team-up, well, everyone that’s left anyway. Higgins has lead the way with the series with great storytelling and giving us the Power Rangers we’ve always wanted to see. His run will be coming to and end issue #31 will see writer Marguerite Bennett (BatwomanJosie and the Pussycats) and artist Simone Di Meo take over the series. Bennett is already making an impact by announcing her new team for Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers includuing The Magna Defender, The Ranger Slayer, Andros, the Red Space Ranger, Cam, the Green Samurai Ranger, Tanya, the Yellow Zeo Ranger, and she’ll be introducing us to the Dark Ranger, who in Super Sentai was known as the Talon Ranger on Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. This got us thinking. What spin-off series would we like to see in comic form? Here are our Top 13.

  1. Phantom Ranger

At the top of our list is the Phantom Ranger who made his debut in Power Rangers Turbo. The Phantom Ranger briefly made an appearance in Boom Studios Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers #16 alongside the Alien Rangers (more on them later).

On the show his identity was never revealed and rumors have run rampant in the Power Rangers community from him being Billy or the spirit of past Rangers. Kyle Higgins did say he was going to use the Phantom Ranger in this years annual, and told us he had something planned for the character, but a Boom Studios spin-off should be in order. There’s so much story left to tell.
