Recently Matthew Vaughn indicated that the planned third Kingsman film would put a bow on the relationship between Harry Hart and Eggsy but that he also had some plans for further adventures set within the Kingsman universe. In addition to an 8-hour television series, Vaughn also has ideas to take the film series back in time and look in on the organization in the early 20th century in a film called Kingsman: The Great Game, which he’d like to film back to back with the next Kingsman film. We’ve got the scoop on how soon that process might start and how Kingsman 3 might tie into The Great Game.
Vaughn and his screenwriting partner Jane Goldman have been hard at work on the script and it appears that they may use the third Kingsman film as an introduction to the characters Vaughn plans to follow in The Great Game. Kingsman 3 is set to begin filming this January in the UK and the studio is on the lookout for two new leads. One of those new leads will be a teen by the name of Conrad. The young, cocky and charming son of a British Duke, Conrad is eager to find a way to serve his country during World War I…and perhaps the Kingsman offer him just that opportunity. The studio is also looking to cast an older lead male and while no details about his character have been revealed, we do know that the Ralph Fiennes is near or at the top of the studios list.
It sounds like Vaughn might be using Kingsman 3 to open a backdoor to The Great Game, introducing Conrad and a new (old) order of Kingsmen. Kingsman: The Golden Circle used flashbacks to expand the mythology behind the organization and it seems as though we’re headed for some more revelations courtesy of the third and final film in this trilogy.
