After a guest-starring role in Scott Snyder’s Dark Nights: Metal series, Dream of the Endless and all his friends are getting ready to make a big comeback with DC Comics’ launch of the Sandman Universe lineup. Announced at WonderCon earlier this year, DC is launching four titles set in the world of the Dreaming, starting with two new titles—The Dreaming and House of Whispers—followed by relaunches of Lucifer and Books of Magic.
First, though, the line is being kicked off by the oversized Sandman Universe #1, hitting comic store shelves August 8th. The special issue was written by Si Spurrier, Nalo Hopkinson, Dan Watters and Kat Howard, with story by Sandman creator Neil Gaiman; art by Bilquis Evely, Dominike “Domo” Stanton, Max Fiumara, Seba Fiumara and Tom Fowler; colors by Matt Lopes; lettering by Simon Bowland; and a cover by Jae Lee.
For those fans excited to see what’s next for Daniel and company, DC has released the first preview pages from Sandman Universe #1, which you can check out below:
Something’s gone very wrong with the Dreaming, no one knows what’s happening, and Dream himself is nowhere to be found? That all sounds like an excellent place to start a story, if you ask me. We’ll find out what happens next when the new Sandman comics line launches this August.
