SDCC 2018: Rebecca Romijn & Jerry O’Connell On Being An Off and On-Screen Couple In “The Death Of Superman”

Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn are married in real-life but they also happen to lend their voices to one of the most iconic couples of all-time, Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

During press day for DC Animated Universe’s newest film, The Death Of Superman, we got to ask the two actors how their off-screen relationship affected their performances.

Romijn noted how the process for an animated film didn’t allow them to work physically together, which is unusual for them. “Jerry and I have worked together a lot, I mean we’ve done a lot of crossover work on each other’s projects and we have a great time working together. It’s funny that this is one of the biggest, most classic love stories of all time and we never ever got to work one day together on this.”

O’Connell insisted that despite the two recording their voice work for the film seperately, “You know, it was pretty emotional. You know, things don’t go so well for Superman in Death Of Superman as you can tell from the title. It’s funny, my wife came back from recording one night and I said, “How’d it go?” and my wife went, “This is gonna be emotional.” And it is but that’s just DC Animation man, they’re really clicking. They’re really doing some of the best superhero stuff out there right now.”

The Death Of Superman will premiere on July 24, 2018 and will be released on Blu-Ray on August 7, 2018.
