Star Wars Resistance is getting released in just a few months, and today it was announced who is going to be producing the show. Polygon Pictures, who helped to produce the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series, released a statement, saying that they are back to help produce the series for both Disney Channel and Disney XD. They also said in the statement that “we are pleased to once more be involved in a Star Wars animated series.

Polygon Pictures also made a point to mention “Star Wars Resistance is an animated series set amongst the events leading up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” So this confirms that the series will be taking place between Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Dave Filoni had commented when the series was first announced and said,”The idea for Star Wars Resistance came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots. My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that’s been a big influence on me. There’s a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we’ve captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time.

This series is the first anime-style Star Wars series, and with Filoni being the showrunner, you already know that the show will be amazing. And you can read Polygon Pictures’ full press release below:

Polygon Pictures (“PPI” President and CEO: Shuzo Shiota Head Office: Tokyo, Japan) is proud to announce that our studio will be producing animation for Star Wars Resistance, the newest Star Wars animated series. Star Wars Resistance is an animated series set amongst the events leading up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
