Star Wars: Top 10 Actresses Star Wars Needs

Star Wars created so many things it can be hard to keep track.  Beyond The ships and sabers and creatures, past the Force, the Jedi and Sith, Star War introduced something to modern movie fandom that is still growing even today.  In many ways Star Wars introduced the first woman of strength to the big screen.  Carrie Fisher wasn’t just a hottie.  She gave us a strong and driven Princess that the world fell in love with, even up to her recent passing.  There were other women doing various roles, but it was Princess Leia that stuck beyond any other.

Today we have Rey, Jyn, Bastilla, and more.  Star Wars is great at taking the female roll and giving it heart and strength.  Tenderness and fierceness.  As Star Wars continues to expand and grow, it will need more women to add to its rosters.  Here are the TOP 10 Actresses I’d like to see lend their flare to the Star Wars universe.

There are two I put up for honorable mention.  They do not make the list for two reasons.  One is firmly entrenched in the Marvel Universe.  The other I don’t think quite cuts it the way the others do.  Elizabeth Olsen continues to shine in many of her new roles.  As Scarlet Witch in the MCU, she continues to grow and become the very heart of the MCU.  What she did in Infinity War was amazing.

The second honorable mention is Rinko Kikuchi.  Rinko costarred along side Charlie Hunnam in Pacific Rim as Mako.  She showed depth in both being shy and driven.  I wouldn’t mind seeing her running alongside our Star Wars heroes.

#10: Amy Acker – Amy Acker has a long television career in Sci-Fi/fantasy.  While Amy had starred in some smaller projects, her big break through came in 2001 when she landed the role of Winifred “Fred” Burkle on the hit tv show Angel.  Since then she has done a lot of one shots.  She now stars in the new tv show The Gifted.  She brings a solid presence to her rolls and has a way of making them her own.  I could see her being a politician or leader of some sort.

#9: Emma Stone – What a statement this would make!  Emma is an Oscar winning actress that has acted in so many different roles with a wide range roles.  In the Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies she played Gwen Stacie, putting a wonderful flare and spunk into the role.  Emma could act as most anything.  Whether human or alien she could bring heart and depth or spunk and charm.  She could be a leading lady or the hilarious side kick.  Having Emma in the SWU would be incredible.

#8: Karen Fukahara – Karen is a new actress to the scene.  Her break out role was 2016’s Suicide Squad where she played Katana.  Her role was limited, but not only did she do a great job bringing emotion and depth to the role, but she did most of it concealed behind a half mask.  She has not only the acting chops, but the athletic ability to play a more adventurous role.  While she could be great as a human, Karen could also bring a great performance as a creature of some sort.  Karen could be anything from force user to bounty hunter.

#7: Ana De Arnos – Ana has done a wide range of roles.  People might remember her from last year’s Bladerunner 2049.  Born in Havana, Cuba, Ana has a strong Felicity Jones feel to her.  I could see her doing some fringe character that could be both blunt and crazy.

#6: BIllie Lourd – Okay at this one most of you should be going, wait a minute.  Billie Lourd is already in the new trilogy as Lt Connix.  Yes she is.  She had a very bit part in The Force Awakens and a slightly larger part in The Last Jedi.  She is one of those side characters I really hope they keep expanding.  Tallie would be another such character had she not died in Last Jedi.  I love the nuance and presence Billie brings to the role even though she is usually acting from the side of the screen somewhere.  I want to see this character keep growing.  Not only that, but she has her mother’s presence.  Billie Lourd should have a bright future ahead.

#5: Katee Sackoff – Okay this is where the list gets more serious.  Who better to kick off the top5 than Katee Sackoff.  Katee has had lots of bit parts through out television, but in 2004 she burst onto the scene as Starbuck in the television show Battlestar Galactica.  Fans had to get used to their leading man, Dirk Benedict, not being a female, but Katee took the role, made it her own and flew with it.  She was one of the best on the show.  Katee has continued to live off bit parts in everything from Riddick, to an online Power Rangers short, to her current role in the Flash as Amunet Black.  She brings a crazy, fun, psycho-ness to the role, yet gives it just that edge of heart and possibly good.  Why no one in the MCU, DCU, SWU or any U hasn’t grabbed this gal up is beyond me – Talent galore!   Let her be  brash pilot, eccentric smuggler, dark side General, or wild eyed dark side user.  She can do it all.

#4: Naomi Scott – Naomi is a young actress that shows a lot of potential.  Her most recognizable role is from last year’s Power Rangers where she played Kimberly the Pink Ranger.  I thought she was fantastic in the role and cant wait to see what her career transforms into.  In 2019 she will appear in Aladdin as Jasmine herself and in the Charlie’s Angels reboot along side Lupita Nyong’o and Kristen Stewart.  (Not sure I’m thrilled about this last one but oh well.)  Naomi would probably be best suited to play a Jedi.  She has the physical skills to learn the fights.

#3: Millie Bobby Brown – As Eleven on the smash Netflix show Stranger Things, Millie is a very hot name right now.  Fans have even thrown about the idea of her playing a young Princess Leia.  She has the look and for those familiar with the show, knows she has the acting chops to play our spirited Princess and more.  Millie’s youth limits her roles slightly, but given the chance you put her any where you can find room for her.

#2: Sofia Boutella – Sofia is one of those actresses that is quietly throwing together one hell of a resume.  Until 2014 I doubt many knew of her.  It wasn’t until she landed the role of Gazelle in the movie Kingsman that she began to bring attention to herself.  She then appeared as the highly underrated Jayla in Star Trek Beyond, and was solid in the not so solid movie The Mummy.  Sofia is beginning to catch fire in Hollywood and rightfully so.  She is athletic, can have a soft look about her, or a look where she is ready to tear your face off.  Give Sofia any role and she will crush it, but I think she could really shine as a main dark force user in a movie.  She would be perfect for the first Star Wars female dark sider.

#1: Alicia Vikander –  Alicia is probably one of my favorites for this list.  She excelled as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider movie.  Since it wont likely get the sequel it deserves, the SWU needs to grab her.  While her acting chops give her the ability to add depth to any role she takes on, she is positively badass with her stunts and can have a positively fierce demeanor.  She could play any number of roles, but I would love nothing better than to give her a lightsaber and be one tenacious Jedi.  If not that then a bounty hunter that would give Boba shivers.
