STAR WARS: IDW Features Star Wars Adventures #10 Variant at SDCC

Warning: Article contains spoilers for Star Wars Adventures, Issue #10.

If you haven’t yet discovered IDW’s Star Wars Adventures comic series, you should consider giving it a try. And if you’re already a fan, you might want to mosey on over to San Diego Comic-Con next week for a convention exclusive.

Star Wars Adventures is comprised of series of vignettes and accompanying tales of everyone’s favorite heroes from a galaxy far, far away, and spans all three eras of Star Wars lore. Through eleven issues thus far, Adventures has already featured a host of characters including: a young Jedi you might know (Obi Wan Kenobi);  a yellow-jacketed and lightsaber-wielding Luke Skywalker; and, most recently, Han Solo and Chewbacca in the days following Solo: A Star Wars Story. The stories follow the Star Wars gang as they traipse across the galaxy in, well, adventure… Or in Han and Chewie’s case in Issue #10, misadventure.

Fans with a keen eye will recognize the issue’s villains as two Empire Strikes Back background characters we saw only briefly on film as Vader briefed his bounty hunters aboard the Super Star Destroyer Executor.  In Issue #10, Zuckass and 4-LOM chase Han and Chewie to a mysterious planet where all electronics fail, stranding the scoundrel and his wookiee companion and pitting them against their tenacious pursuers.

Utilizing these original trilogy characters is a nice tie-in to the franchise-favorite film, lending a little more gravity to the Episode V scene; each bounty hunter present has, at some point or another, had Solo in their sights only to have him slip through their fingers.

Written by Cavan Scott and featuring the stylistic artistry of Derek Charm, Issue #10 will be among publisher IDW’s con-exclusives next week in America’s Finest City. Thanks to our friends over at Fantha Tracks (via The Bearded Trio), we’ve learned that IDW will make the issue available at the Con with a variant cover, predominately inked in black and white, a sneak peak of which can be seen here:

Get to the Con early, though; the variant cover issue has a limited run of only 500 copies and is exclusive to SDCC for $10.
