Exclusive: MORTAL KOMBAT Reboot First Details

The original Mortal Kombat films didn’t find themselves concerned with character development beyond the most elementary details. Hopefully Director Simon Mcquoid will take the time to develop characters that are engaging. That may not seem important upon first inspection when you’re adapting a video game that is purely about fighting. But the fights won’t mean anything if you don’t care about the characters.

There are still many questions left to be answered on this planned reboot. Will we see Goro? Shao Kahn? Are there planned sequels? Will future MK video games have Cole Turner as a playable character? So many questions. Just keep checking That Hashtag Show for all the latest updates!

Another interesting question is whether the movie will tie-in at all to the DC universe like how the Injustice video games do. With Walter Hamada as the new studio head over at Warner Bros., we have really yet to see what direction DC films will be heading in. Gamers got a real kick out of being able to pin DC Characters against Mortal Kombat characters in battle. It would be a bold if Warner Bros. ever decided to cross over.

No production start dates have been announced as of yet but we expect to hear more on that front very soon.

Until there’s more details on the Mortal Kombat reboot, fans are likely to still be skeptical and reserved, as that’s what 20 years without a new film will do. Still, some hope is better than none. Here’s hoping it’s not another 20 years until this new Mortal Kombat film is made.
