EXCLUSIVE: Iconic Disneyland Character Trader Sam To Appear In Disney’s JUNGLE CRUISE Film

Production is underway on Disney’s Jungle Cruise starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – based on the popular Disneyland attraction, and the film keeps adding talent to the cast, and now we have learned an iconic character to the classic Disneyland attraction will also make an appearance in the film.

We have learned that Trader Sam will appear in the upcoming film, and the studio is looking to cast a male or female to play the amazonian character.

For those unfamiliar with Trader Sam, he appears at the very end of the Jungle Cruise attraction, holding a shrunken head aloft in his hand. A “Head Salesman“, the Skipper comments that he’s offering a special deal: “Two of his heads for one of yours“. Trader Sam’s is also a popular tiki bar and lounge just outside of the Disneyland Hotel.

Jungle Cruise follows Johnson as a boat captain that sets sail in the Amazon with a brother and sister who are trying to find a special tree that has healing properties. The trio encounter wild animals and a rival German crew along the way. It is not currently known how Trader Sam will factor into the story, but based on the history and popularity of the character its safe to assume Trader Sam will play some sort of protagonist in the film.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, The Commuter) Jungle Cruise also stars Emily Blunt , Jack Whitehall, Paul Giamatti, with Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons, and Quim Gutierrez as the films villains.

There is no official release date for Jungle Cruise as of yet.
