#5:  Aftermath Trilogy by Chuck Wendig – Here is one of the great contradictions in the book world.  Remember how I said there were really only one or two misses in the canon book world so far?  Book 1: Aftermath is actually one of those misses.  So why then is this trilogy  coming in at #5?  Because books 2 and 3 (Life Debt and Empire’s End) are that great!  The problem with Aftermath is that it is telling the individual stories of our new team throughout most of the book, so the story is disjointed and all over the place.  There is no flow to the book.  Add in that Chuck puts little 3-4 page asides in between each chapter and its just a mess.  These asides show the state of parts of the galaxy at the time,  but do nothing to advance the story.  If you can make it through book 1, books 2 and 3 come together and will be well worth the read.  Chuck sets up some fantastic characters, one of which is a young Snap Wexley.  “Bones” steals just about every scene he is in.  I hope you’ve gotten over your disgust of episode 1 battle droids.
