Ross Marquand Hopes To Play The Role Of Moon Knight In The MCU

Ross Marquand from The Walking Dead has recently expressed interest in playing the role of Moon Knight in the MCU. The actor who is known for playing Aaron on AMC’s hit show seems like he would be a great fit to pick up the mantle of Moon Knight for his first live action portrayal. While Ross Marquand most certainly has the talent, he does already have a role in the MCU as he was Red Skull in Avengers: Infinity War, however given that the role was rather minor and his face was pretty well hidden under the make up, it wouldn’t be a stretch to have Ross progress into another role in another area of the MCU.

Moon Knight was introduced in 1975 and was a man named Marc Scepter who used his intelligent detective skills in order to solve crimes, mix this with his incredible martial arts ability, he was a pretty awesome character for Marvel fans to read about and they have been clamouring for Moon Knight to make his on screen debut for years now. The character has often been plagued as being a ‘Batman‘ clone, and given the fact we already have a ‘Batman‘ clone in live action in the form of DC’s ‘Arrow‘, there is the question of whether or not there is room for a character like this, however there is plenty of potential to explore this character on screen.

Ross Marquand spoke with AIPT regarding his comments about wanting to play the vigilante:

“Going into the dissociative identity disorder, really calling in to question if everything happening is all in his head, is he actually a vigilante killer or did he die in Egypt? It brings up a slew of questions, and that to me has never really been delved into in any comic book character before.”

Based on the statement above, it is clear that Ross Marquand is very passionate about this role and has a lot of interest in portraying this role with great care and attention.

Also the showrunner of Daredevil, Steven S DeKnight, recently expressed his interest in doing a Netflix series surrounding Moon Knight. Given that he was the showrunner on one of Marvel’s best shows which focused on a character with fantastic martial skills and interesting crime fighting stories, it almost seems like it’s a match made in heaven. Pair the concept and the showrunner with Marquand’s talent and passion and you have got a recipe for a pretty awesome Moon Knight television series which we would all eagerly anticipate.

It is quite surprising that Marvel has done nothing with this character yet, however Kevin Feige has said that Marvel do have plans for Moon Knight. So it seems like it is only a matter of time until we see Moon Knight unleashed onto our screens, be it a movie in Phase 4, or a original series on Netflix, it seems like all of the pieces are falling into place. With Kevin Feige excited to do it, Steven S DeKnight willing to showrun or direct and Ross Marquand up to star, it seems like it won’t be long until we see the character be introduced into the MCU.
