Marvel is going to great lengths to keep Avengers 4 and its plot under wraps. There have been no announcements, statements, teasers, or trailers. In fact, we still don’t know what the movie is actually called and are left no choice but to call it Avengers 4 like it’s some common straight-to-video action sequel found on a shelf at Blockbuster.
So, we have to rely on the only leaks that Marvel Studios can never truly stop: their own cast.
Evangeline Lilly recently sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight in order to promote Marvel’s newest film, Ant-Man and The Wasp, and was asked if she called up any of her female Marvel co-stars to discuss what its like to be a lady superhero.
“You know what I was working, when I was working on Avengers I got to know Brie Larson pretty well, or as much as you can on a film, and her and I talked about it. And of course she’s going to be the next titled female superhero, she’s going to be Captain Marvel, and then I’m sure this will be the beginning of many, many more titled Marvel films. Black Widow. Scarlet Witch. I mean I don’t know who’s next or who’s going to get a film, but it’s not-, it’s just the beginning.”
Okay, that’s as good as any Tom Holland accidental confession that they shot at least one lengthy scene together.
According to my powers of wild speculation, getting to know someone “pretty well” means they likely spent a lot of time together on-set. It’s completely possible they shot more than one scene together, especially since we know Avengers 4 will have a scene that features every Marvel hero to date. While that scene is all but guaranteed to blow our minds when we see it, a room full of Avengers doesn’t sound like the kind of environment that’s conducive to the hardcore bonding Lilly seems to be describing here.
Ant-Man and The Wasp premieres in theaters July 5, 2018.
Avengers 4 is even farther away and will premiere on May 3, 2019.
