The release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith started several continuity arguments among fans. One of the most famous, Leia remembering her dead mother, may have been answered by a Reddit user.
Princess Leia describes her mother to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Luke asks her, “Leia, do you remember your mother? Your real mother?” She responds, “Just a little bit. She died when I was very young.” In Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, we learn Luke and Leia’s mother is Padme Amidala, galactic senator and former queen of Naboo. Padme dies shortly after the twin’s birth. Too soon for the babies to have memories of their mother.
When Luke asks, “What do you remember?” Leia replies,”Just…images really. Feelings.” When pressed, Leia says, “She was very beautiful. Kind, but sad.” Luke states, “I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her.” Why does Leia have memories of their mother, but Luke doesn’t?
