While book readers, and lovers of the original mini-series know to expect the return of (a now mad) Henry Bowers, movie goers might be surprised. After getting into an altercation with Mike Hanlon, Henry is pushed down a well and presumed dead; which would be different from both the book and the original mini-series. However, it turns out that is not the case and Henry is very much alive.
In the original mini-series, Henry’s character is found guilty of murdering his best friend and is placed into the Juniper Hill State Correctional Facility for the rest of his life. When Pennywise returns 30 years later, Henry, who is still in the asylum gets a visit from Pennywise who convices him to kill the main characters and helps him escape.
Joining the already star powered cast, Teach Grant (Altered Carbon) will be taking on the role of adult Henry Bowers. However, in a fun twist, not only is Henry alive, but someone married him; Jess Weixler (Teeth) will take on the role of Mrs. Bowers.
It seems with the fake out death and the marriage, the writers are taking this character in a new and exciting direction. Although book readers might be skeptical I am here for it. The writers took quite a few liberties with IT: Chapter 1 and most were very successful. Let’s keep an open mind going into Chapter 2.
Grant will be joining the likes of Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh, Bill Hader as Richie, James McAvoy as Bill, James Ransone as Eddie, Andy Bean as Stanley, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike and Jay Ryan as Ben. Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise.
