Nightflyers Trailer – Skye | Syfy’s George R.R. Martin Series New Trailer

This new video features a child, I’m assuming named Skye, saying the words ‘feel, kill, hate, burn, time, death, blood,…’ while people in terror are shown on screen. Kids are already creepy AF, so this just intensifies it.

The original story, written by Martin in 1980 was only a short novella but inspired a film in 1987 by writer/producer Robert Jaffe. The film is about a group of scientists who begin a space voyage to find a mysterious alien creature, and in the process are victimized by the ship’s malevolent computer, the series description, per Syfy states:

Set in the year 2093, Nightflyers is a psychological thriller that follows a team of scientists aboard the Nightflyer, the most advanced ship ever built, as they embark on a journey to find other life forms. Their mission takes them to the edge of the solar system, and to the edge of insanity, as they realize true horror isn’t waiting for them in outer space-it’s already on their ship.

This seems to indicate that the stories will take a similar path, but fleshed out over the course at least the first seasons 10 episodes. It is currently unknown whether they will stretch out the original short story over multiple seasons or if that specific tale will be wrapped up in Season 1 and new stories will be told in future seasons.

Nightflyers will have a presence at SDCC this year and the series has been described as a “haunted house on a space ship.” That could be a really cool activation to check out and I’ll definitely be looking for it.

The series stars Eoin Macken, David Ajala, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, Angus Sampson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Brían F. O’Byrne, and Gretchen Mol. No specific date has yet been set for it’s premiere, but it is expected to drop in the fall.
