EXCLUSIVE: ‘Ant-Man’ star PAUL RUDD in talks to star as George Elliot in LIVING WITH YOURSELF, a scripted comedy from longtime ‘Daily Show’ producer Tim Greenberg. That Hashtag Show has also learned ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ co-directors Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton are in talks to direct the eight-episode series.
Living With Yourself follows the character of George Elliot, a man frustrated with his job and marriage. After undergoing a mysterious spa treatment, he finds he’s been replaced by a new and improved George.
Living With Yourself is expected to be told from multiple perspectives with intersecting storylines. The philosophical comedy asks the question: Do we really want to be better?
IFC was originally announced as the network to pick up the half hour comedy. Netflix has since acquired the project.
Paul Rudd is no stranger to Netflix. He stole the show in Duncan Jones’ Mute as well as Wet Hot American Summer and it’s sequel.
It was only a matter of time until we saw him back on the giant streaming service known as Netflix, but this time leading his own series. It will be fun to see the multi-layered (and talented) Rudd become another interesting multi-layered character.
Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton started their careers co-directing programs for MTV. They went on to direct music videos for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Janet Jackson, Oasis, and the Smashing Pumpkins.
Their feature debut ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ was nominated for four Oscars, winning two.
Faris & Dayton’s feature credits also include Battle Of The Sexes and Ruby Sparks to go along with numerous Grammy Award-winning music videos. With their distinctive visual flair, it will be fun to see the choices they make in telling George Elliot’s story.
Emmy winner Jeff Blitz (The Office) will executive produce alongside Tim Greenberg, Anthony Bregman, Tony Hernandez, and Jeff Stern.
Living With Yourself could be another gem among Netflix’s roster of original programming. No production dates are set but with casting negotiations underway expect more details soon.
