A few days before E3 we had a glimpse of Overkill Studios’ version of The Walking Dead game. Luckily we won’t have to wait much longer to see what this cinematic gameplay will be like as it will be revealed this weekend during E3 at Booth 5200!
Based on what we could take from the trailers, this game is going to rely heavily on 4 player co-op. What’s nice is that they are taking pages from games where each character has a different style and abilities to bring to the party. All four playable characters have been revealed: Aidan, the bat-wielding everyman, Maya, the ex-surgeon, Grant, a sniper rifle expert, Heather the scout will round out the group.
The game looks reminiscent of State of Decay where using multiple characters types will lead to your success, however the plot of Overkill’s upcoming release isn’t quite clear. Overkill’s version of the game appears to be a nice departure from its similarly titled counterpart, Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead, while the latter has a distinct style, and gameplay, the former may bring an even more immersive experience.
All of these trailers are stunning to say the least, but the big question is: Will the game be as beautiful? We do know that this game has been in development since 2015. So that can lead one to believe that good things are on the horizon or does it mean that development was as slow as a rotted walker and we’ll only be treated to appealing visuals, but crap gameplay?
