Solo: A Star Wars Story is floundering at the box office and will go down in Star Wars history as the first film to lose money. However, the second trilogy and Rogue One proved fans don’t hate prequels. And of the many things wrong with Solo, Chewbacca isn’t one of them. Here are the things a new prequel still has to answer.
When the Solo trailer first premiered, fans were excited to see a new Wookiee. Many speculated that this would be Chewbacca’s life-mate. Unfortunately, this did not turn out to be the case. Fans would really appreciate some answers in upcoming films.
Solo did mention Chewbacca looking for his family. Sure, Chewie could have just been referring to his tribe in general. But it seems more likely the 190-year-old Wookiee has a special someone and maybe a kid or two.
The Star Wars Holiday Special is so bad George Lucas would rather everyone forgot it. But the one thing anyone who saw it will remember is Chewbacca’s family. Fans were introduced to Chewbacca’s wife Mallatobuck, his son Lumpawarrump, and Chewie’s father Attichitcuk.
Novels from the previous Star Wars Expanded Universe added Chewbacca’s sister Kallabow, and Chewie’s cousins Dryanta and Jowdrrl. Kallabow’s son Lowbacca famously joined Han and Leia’s teenaged children on many adventures. Lowbacca could use the Force and trained with the Solo twins at the Jedi Academy.
