SYFY Officially Renews ‘KRYPTON’ For Season 2

Krypton-Season2

The Syfy channel joined the comic book TV train this year with the Superman prequel series Krypton starring Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El, the Man of Steel’s grandpa. As the season finale is upon us tomorrow night, Syfy has granted the DC series a second season! Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2019.

While it wasn’t specified how many episodes Krypton Season 2 will have, it is very likely it will have 10 episodes again. This is the second new DC Comics television series to get renewed as The CW handed out a season two renewal to Black Lightning last month, starring Cress Williams as the titular hero.

The recent DC TV series has been well-received by both fans and critics alike as Krypton has built a following since its premiere in March. Taking place 200 years before the planet’s explosion, the series follows Seg-El and the people in his life as we witness what Superman’s home planet was like years ago.

This season has focused on the villainous DC character Brainiac as he is aiming to erase the Man of Tomorrow out of existence. Because of that, the character of Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) has gone back in time to save the greatest hero in the universe. Throughout the season, we have gotten to know the various houses such as House Zod, Vex, and El.

Showrunner Cam Welsh and even the actors have stated in the past that future seasons would introduce other DC characters. With the show serving as a gateway into the galaxy and outer space of the DC Universe, we could see Thangar, Rann, Oa and more. We’ll most likely get new details about Season 2 at San Diego Comic-Con as the cast and Welsh will probably be attending. The Season 1 finale, titled “The Phantom Zone” is set to air tomorrow night at 10/9c as Seg and his gang clash with Brainiac once and for all.

Another Superman prequel series is in development for the DC Universe channel with Metropolis. Set to focus on Lois Lane and Lex Luthor before the arrival of Clark Kent, the show was initially ordered for 13 episodes before heading back into redevelopment.
