Few movies have had the cultural, financial, and critical success that Black Panther experienced- and even fewer truly deserved it. Black Panther set a bar that changed, not just the Marvel landscape, but film as well – Showing the world that white people in movies don’t always make the most money. Let alone, men… And now, it’s coming to Blu-Ray on May 15th (it’s avail digitally now, but without the bells and whistles). The lengthy, but aptly named “4K Cinematic Universe Edition” offers, obviously, a 4K Ultra HD version of the film along with next-generation high dynamic range (HDR) visuals and Dolby Atmos immersive audio (Soooooo many words). But let’s be honest, all we care about are the extras.
Here’s what we got…er get:
- Never-before-seen extras feature commentary from director Ryan Coogler
- Deleted scenes
- Several making-of featurettes, detailing the Black Panther’s evolution including “The remarkable women of Wakanda”, the history of T’Challa’s proud nation, and the cosmic origin and technological applications of vibranium, as well as a featurette tracing the countless connections between heroes, characters and storylines within the Marvel Cinematic Universe
- A roundtable discussion with “Black Panther” filmmakers and writers.
- And above all else… exclusive sneak peek at “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”
The stand out here, besides the “The remarkable women of Wakanda” featurette- because they were absolutely…well, remarkable, is the Ant-Man and Wasp sneak peak.
