Actress Mckenna Grace, who was officially announced in an undisclosed role by Marvel Studios when production resumed in late March, will be playing young Carol Danvers in 2019’s Captain Marvel. While many fans have speculated that Grace (Fuller House, Gifted) may be playing young Captain Marvel superfan Kit Harrington, she will in fact be portraying a young Carol, sharing many of her scenes alongside Kenneth Mitchell, who was cast as Carol’s father Joseph Danvers, in scenes we are told are set in the 1980s.
Additionally, actress Ana Ayora has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. The 34-year old Ayora is most well-known for her role as Nina Cruz in the Cinemax original series Banshee and also had some minor supporting roles in Ride Along 2, The Big Wedding and Marley and Me. Ayora joins Grace, star Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel) along with a strong supporting cast led by Jude Law (Walter Lawson/Mar-Vell), Ben Mendelsohn (Yon-Rogg) and Annette Bening. Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson), Lee Pace (Ronan) and Djimon Hounsou (Korath) are returning and join newcomers Rune Temte, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva), and Algenis Perez Soto.
Captain Marvel is currently filming in and around Los Angeles County and will also shoot in New Orleans in early July before wrapping production. It will be in theaters March 16, 2019! Stay tuned to That Hashtag Show for more information as these stories develop.
