Dwayne Johnson’s Red Notice doesn’t begin shooting until 2019 but Universal is already in pursuit of another big name to join the fast moving heist film. We have learned that Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot is the studio’s “top choice” to join Dwayne Johnson in the action-comedy set to come out Summer of 2020.

In Red Notice, Johnson plays an Interpol agent tasked with capturing the most wanted art thief in the world. “Red Notice” refers to the highest and most serious of Interpol notices (there are eight) and concerns the arrest of wanted criminals.

Gal Gadot – who turned to acting after a two-year stint in the Israeli Defense Forces – could be the perfect fit for this potential franchise. As of right now there are no further details on the potential character.  What we do know for sure is that the studio is looking for a female in her 30’s to colead this red hot project. Gal’s physicality, ability to speak different languages, and international appeal make her an ideal choice for this role.

Red Notice would reteam Dwayne Johnson with his Central Intelligence writer/director, Rawson Marshall Thurber. The pair also collaborated on the this July’s action-thriller Skyscraper, in which Universal and Legendary have a distribution deal on. That partnership also held true back in February when Universal and Legendary teamed up to beat Warner Bros., Paramount, and Jumanji maker Sony in a bidding war for the globe-trotting Red Notice.

The $150+ million project is expected to  earn Dwayne Johnson his first $22 million payday. Rawson Marshall Thurber will also earn upwards of $10 million. Like Skyscraper, Red Notice will also be co-produced by Johnson’s Seven Bucks Production banner.

Red Notice would also be pairing up Fast And Furious co-stars Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot again. It just so happens that right now these two stars are among the biggest box office earners as well. Gal Gadot’s turn as Wonder Woman, the titular character in the Patty Jenkins-directed film, earned $822 million globally. Boosted by her appearance in “Justice League,” the Israeli actress accounted for a total of $1.4 billion at the box office last year. Pair her box office power with that of “The Rock” and you’re sure to have a nice Summer flick.

Johnson will remain busy until then, as always. His next two movies are Disney’s Jungle Cruise and Universal’s Hobbs and Shaw (a spin-off of The Fast and the Furious). In addition to that, he’s announced to participate in a Jumanji sequel, Doc Savage, G.I. Joe: Ever Valiant, and The Janson Directive, among others.

After the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel is done shooting Gal Gadot will have plenty of options to choose from. Red Notice could very well be at the top of the list.
